If you want to make your work to be easier, it is best to remove door from its frame. You can then remove all the hardware and place it on the saw horse. But you can always paint doors without removing them. It is up to you. Sand whole surface lightly with sandpaper including all bumps helping the fresh paint to adhere it. Consider prime the door before painting interior doors if your door is bare or stained wood, or you want to repaint lighter than the current color.
Make sure to paint the panels first when painting interior doors. Do this using a small roller allowing speeding the process. Use a brush to even out the paint and complete any spots skipped by the roller. Brush on the paint following the panel directions or the wood grain on your door helping to highlight the grain.
